General conference information for participants
who do not give lectures or short presentations.
The international conference - organised
by the Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences (Cracow) and
Institute of Philosophy and Sociology of the Polish Academy
of Sciences (Warsaw) to commemorate the 400th anniversary
of death of Faustus Socinus (Fausto Sozzini, 1539-1604),
the prominent Italian reformer and religious thinker - is
a scholarly event.
During the conference about 25-30 lectures
and short presentations on Faustus Socinus's person and
doctrine as well as on later development of the movement
called Socinianism or Unitarianism will be presented.
Most lectures and short presentations will
be given in English, and the rest in German, French and
Italian. Presentations in the latter languages will not
be translated into English but the participants will receive
their English summaries. On September 26th, 2004 the conference
participants will go to Lus³awice, a small village
where Socinus spent his last years, died and was buried,
and where in 1933 the American Unitarians erected a monument
in his honour.

The registration fee for persons interested
in taking part in the conference is 25 EUROS. The trip to
Lus³awice costs 30 EUROS (transport plus dinner). The
registration fee and trip cost should be transferred to
the Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences bank account (Polska

1st, 2004. Lack of the payment by the date will mean that
the participant will not take part in the conference.
As far as accommodation is concerned, we
provide it for the conference speakers only. The list of
speakers has been already closed. We suggest that other
participants should look for accommodation in the Jagiellonian
University hotels ("Guest House", "Bursa
Pigonia") relatively cheap and situated in the city
centre (and thus close to the conference venue). Since the
hotel rooms are frequently unavailable they should be booked
much in advance (while booking a room please mention participation
in the conference organised by the Polish Academy of Arts
