FIRST CIRCULAR

Dear Colleagues:
Servetus International Society proposes to organize an International
Servetus Congress which will take place in October
20 – 21, 2006, in Barcelona, Spain.
The Congress will be financed entirely by the registration
fees of participants.
We also invite scholarly, academic, and social organizations
and institutions that are interested in Michael Servetus studies
to join us in sponsoring this event and to work together in
order to promote the knowledge about this great figure in
history.
We propose as the general topic to be explored:
THE HERITAGE OF MICHAEL SERVETUS
AND HIS RELEVANCE FOR THE MODERN WORLD
The organizers of the Congress hope participants
will explore the variety of contributions Michael Servetus
made to the society and ideology in various areas and how
they shaped or anticipated the development of the modern world.
In this First Circular we solicit prospective participants
to express their intention to participate in the Congress
and/or submit a preliminary abstract outlining their contribution.
We anticipate plenary sessions with invited speakers and several
sessions with contributions of 20 minute presentations from
the participants.
The abstract should contain about 300 words and should be
preceded by a title, the organizational affiliation of the
participant, the participant’s street address as well
as an e-mail address. The abstracts and intention to participate
in the Congress should be submitted to SIS by e-mail or by
regular post office mail before February 28, 2006.
We need this information in order to be able to make further
plans for the Congress. The cost of registration and details
regarding location of the Congress, accommodation and travel
will be provided in the subsequent Circulars.

to participate and Abstract is due (about 300 words)
April 15, 2006: Notification of acceptance
of Abstract and invitation to submit complete paper.
May 15, 2006: Complete paper is due.
June 15, 2006: Notification of acceptance
of paper.
REGISTRATION:
July 30, 2006: Registration Fee
The registration fee will be assessed after we obtain firm
confirmation of the intent of participation. Please
note that the registration fee will be non-refundable
A detailed SECOND CIRCULAR will be sent
in due time to those colleagues who will have answered this
invitation by February 28, 2006.
